A session with the acute setting lasts one hour. It must be used during the migraine attack and may be repeated for a second 60-minute session if the migraine pain is not relieved within two hours, or if another migraine attack occurs.
A session with the prevent setting lasts 20-minutes. It must be used daily and may be done at any time throughout the day, though an evening session is preferred.
Program 2, the PREVENT treatment, is for people who have frequent migraine attacks (more than three per month) and are in need of migraine prophylaxis. With proper daily use of the PREVENT program, people may see a reduction in the number of migraine days.
- The PREVENT program can be used multiple times per day for up to two sessions. A break of at least 60 minutes is recommended before beginning your next treatment session.
- In order to administer the maximum session length, you will have to restart the CEFALY DUAL after it completes the first 20-minute session.
Program 1, the ACUTE treatment, is intended for use during a migraine attack or at the onset.
- The ACUTE program can be used multiple times per day for up to two hours per session. A break of at least 60 minutes is recommended before beginning your next treatment session.
- In order to administer the maximum session length (2 hours) you will have to restart the device after it completes the first 60-minute session.
The sensations experienced while using the CEFALY DUAL are novel to most people and can take some adjustment.
To make treatment more enjoyable, we recommend you increase the intensity in small increments of time, over the course of a few weeks. If you feel the intensity is too strong for you, simply press the device button once during a session to stabilize the pulses at a tolerable level for the remainder of the session.
