Ophthalmic shingles treatment
The chicken pox virus remains dormant in nerve ganglia. If the immune system becomes impaired for whatever reason, it reactivates and can produce a painful skin rash that follows the distribution of a nerve.
Sometimes, the ophthalmic nerve (superior branch of the trigeminal nerve) is affected by shingles. In such case, there is sensitivity and pain around the eye, the orbit and above the eye. Local treatment and long-term monitoring are needed to safeguard the integrity of the cornea.
Cefaly is the highly effective method of choice to treat pain located in the orbital and supra-orbital region. Programme 1, for the treatment of acute attacks, acts by blocking the painful stimulus using the "TENS gate control" mechanism.
However, although the pain may lessen or disappear altogether, local skin treatments and monitoring of the cornea remains absolutely essential.
Use programme 1 as required.
At the end of the twenty-minute session, the intensity reduces gradually over the course of 30 seconds.
