Sometimes, the term chronic headache is used to describe a very high frequency of headaches due to the misuse of pain-killing medications.
Up to 14% of patients who suffer from headaches will experience chronic headaches due to the misuse of analgesics.
Cefaly is particularly useful in this situation. Regular use can help sufferers break free from the vicious circle caused by medications.
The combination of the prevention programme and the pain-killing “attack” programme can rapidly reduce the consumption of painkillers.
When a headache is very frequent and caused mainly by the misuse of medications, this is known as a chronic headache. Cefaly is particularly useful in such cases, and can be used whenever it is required.
Cefaly se révèle être un traitement particulièrement utile et sera utilisé à volonté.
To begin with, use it as a preventative treatment with 2 sessions a day of 20 minutes each using programme 2. The two sessions should ideally be carried out at two separate times of the day (e.g. morning and evening).
Programme 1 can also be used whenever required each time the pain increases in order to help avoid the need to take pain-killing medication. The attack programme lasts 20 minutes, although it can be repeated several times in succession. At the end of the twenty-minute session, the intensity reduces gradually over the course of 30 seconds. During this stage, a simple press on the button will immediately start a new twenty-minute session.
After some time (1 week to 2 months), when an improvement and therefore a reduction in the frequency and intensity of attacks has been noticed, and once you have broken free from the vicious circle of mis-using painkillers, the usage of programme 2 (prevention) can be reduced and instead you can use Cefaly 2 to 3 times a week.
